The Requiem

A man found the truth in his death

The requiem hoards for the one man
Who stood alone in the midst of disease
His whole life’s story just began
Before his body was put at ease

The rain melted into his skin
He stood alone, looking up at the dark sky
He begged for forgiveness, for his sin
But the lord was silent, no reply.

His loved ones came to say goodbye
His dying body lay on the ground
He was happy, he began to cry
His friends and family were all around

Alas the rain washed off the illusion
To show him, that he was all on his own
He looked around in utter confusion
Yet again, he was all alone.

And so the requiem awaits him
The gates of heaven open in the sky
But even in death he realized
That the afterlife, was all a lie
